Troubleshooting — safe checks you can do
Most pool hiccups start with water flow. These are the safe, no-tools checks — anything beyond them, that’s our job.
💧 Water looks cloudy
Empty the skimmer basket and check the water level — it should sit halfway up the skimmer opening.
Run the pump a few extra hours today.
Still cloudy after 48 hours? Call us — cloudy water is chemistry talking, and we’ll sort it on or before your next visit.
🟢 Water starting to turn green
Brush the walls and steps — algae lets go much easier when brushed.
Run the pump around the clock and empty the baskets daily until we get there.
Please don’t add store-bought shock on your own — we’re already managing your water, and doubling up can set the balance back. Just call, and we’ll move your visit up if we can.
⚙️ Pump won’t start, or hums and clicks off
Check the breaker panel for a tripped breaker, and make sure the timer or switch is on.
If the breaker trips again after one reset, stop there and call us — repeated tripping is the pump asking for help, and anything inside the wiring is ours to touch, not yours.
🫧 Pump runs, but flow is weak or full of air bubbles
Check the water level first — low water is the #1 cause. Fill to halfway up the skimmer opening.
With the pump off, empty the pump basket by the equipment, then restart.
Check the skimmer flap (the floating door) isn’t stuck shut.
Still bubbling or losing prime after that? Call us — that can be a suction-side leak.
🔧 Filter pressure reads high
When your filter is clean, its gauge sits at its normal number. If it’s crept up roughly 8–10 pounds over that, it’s asking for a cleaning.
Filter cleanings are part of your service — note it in a message to Rick and we’ll handle it; no need to open the filter yourself.
🧂 Salt system says “Check Cell” or “Low Flow”
Low flow comes first: check baskets and water level like above — most warnings clear once flow is back.
If the warning stays, message Rick. Salt cell cleaning is included in your service, and we clean cells the way that protects their lifespan and warranty — please don’t acid-wash it yourself.
🤖 Automatic cleaner stopped moving
Empty the cleaner’s bag or basket, check for a twig or toy jamming the wheels or throat, and untangle the hose.
Check the skimmer and pump baskets too — a full basket starves the cleaner.
Still stuck? It may be worn wheels or tracks — message Rick and we’ll check it on the next visit.
📉 Think you might have a leak?
Quick bucket test: fill a bucket on a pool step with pool water, mark both water lines, and compare after 24 hours with the pump running its normal schedule. If the pool drops noticeably more than the bucket, something’s leaking.
Losing more than about a quarter-inch a day beyond normal evaporation? Call us — finding leaks early is exactly what our repair side does.
Stop and call us — don’t troubleshoot these: a breaker that keeps tripping, any burning smell or sparking at the equipment, gas heater errors or soot, water pooling around the equipment pad, or broken glass in the pool. Call (904) 318-1999.
